Not Your Ordinary Turkey Burgers and Potato Chips

So we promised you healthy recipes for spring. Neither of us are big meat eaters. I think that has something to do with the fact that we’d prefer something sweet over something savory any day. Even though we don’t eat much meat, our guys still like to eat meat…sighh…why can’t they love dessert as much as us? Back to the point. So this whole turkey burger idea started when our friend Sarah mentioned how she made them once with a packet of The Good Seasons Italian dressing mix. Last night we built up the courage to give it a try. We added a little bit of this and a little bit of that and low and behold they came out fantastic! Our guys are picky when it comes to their meat, but guess what…they gave them a 10! Maria’s husband even said…”When you told me you were making turkey burgers, I really expected them to be gross, but these are awesome!” We are so proud of ourselves and you will be too when you give these a try! Even if you are a red meat lover, you will fall head over heals for these turkey burgers. Now..lets talk about that creamy sauce poured on top of the burger. That is a healthy chipotle sauce that will seriously take you 2 minutes to whip up. It really completed the burger so PLEASE don’t leave it out! What’s a burger without chips? Don’t worry we are including a healthy recipe to make homemade potato chips. Warning you may never want to buy store bought potato chips again!

The burgers even look good raw..not that we’d ever try them!

Turkey Burgers

Yield 6 burgers

Indredients:

1 1/4 lb. of ground turkey

1 shallot, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/3 cup of parsely

1 packet of The Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix (not the zesty one)

Lettuce, for garnish

6 whole wheat buns, toasted

Directions:

Combine all ingredients together. Be sure not to over mix. Divide meat into 6 equal parts and form patties. We like ours on the thin side so that there is a 50/50 ratio of burger and bun. We grilled ours inside on a grill pan, but they would be even better grilled on the BBQ. Cook patties for a few minutes on each side until the centers are no longer pink. We covered our pan for the last few minutes to speed up the process.

Chipotle Sauce

Ingredients:

1 cup of Greek yogurt

2-3 tbs. of chipotle adobe sauce (can be find in the Mexican/taco aisle in a small can)

1 lime, juiced

Directions:

Combine all ingredients together, keep extra sauce refrigerated.

Potato Chips

Ingredient:

3 red potatoes, thinly sliced

3 white potatoes, thinly sliced

3 tbs. EVOO

1 tbs. paprika

s & p to taste

Directions:

Combine all ingredients together on a baking sheet. Make sure that all the potatoes are evenly coated. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes then increase temperature to 450 degrees for another 10 minutes, keep a close eye on them.

Let us know if you try them!

Roxy - Hey girls, I’m planning on making this tomorrow. But can I try them on the Tyson grilling thing, or should I use a pan on the stove? I don’t have a grill pan, and not sure I want to bbq. What do you think?

We’re so sorry we didn’t see your comment until now! We usually get an email whenever someone comments but for some reason we haven’t been getting emails lately! Well if you didn’t already make these burgers we think the Tyson grill would work just fine! Let us know how it worked out!
Thanks for stopping by!
